SACRED
GEOMETRY
Participants in
this series of workshops will learn how cycles in nature inspired the Ancient
Egyptian concept of the circle, the invention of the world’s oldest calendar
which we still use today, as well as today’s zodiac. Participants will learn
nature’s role in the selection of the signs and symbols made by those residing
on the banks of the Nile River.
Wednesday Seminar
participants will explore aspects of the geography, astronomy, mathematics and
geometry of the Nile Valley that were catalysts for the development of the
stellar, lunar and solar calendars in Ancient Egypt, in thought provoking
discussions, geometric and paper folding exercises. Finally,
participants will have an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in solving
some practical problems involving square measures.
Supplies Needed:
Compass, ruler, protractor,
graph paper (four squares per inch), construction paper, scissors, colored
pencils and plain bond paper (20 lb or less).
Overview and Workshop
Description in Detail:
Prof. Grant is a self taught mathematician. On
tour with Dr. Yosef AA Ben Jochannan to Kmt (Egypt), she was smitten by the
genius of our ancestors who built the great civilizations and monuments of
Ethiopia, Nubia, and the Nile Valley. Her inter-disciplinary approach and
interactive style has made her a favorite with students, parents and teachers.
She’s known for teaching math lessons with what she calls “street materials.”
She is the creator of the workshops: The Balance Scale and the Equation,
The Mathematics of the Harmonic Cord and Sacred Geometry.
Sacred Geometry will be the focus of her presentation in March.
