Parents, Teachers, Students
From phones to drones, to robotics; AI is
everywhere. Right now, the world is beset by
a pandemic. More today than ever, science,
technology, engineering, and math courses
are critical for understanding, navigating,
and taking charge of our world.
The problem is that current science curricula
and methodology alienate our students –
either from the STEM subject areas or from
our people, culture and historic missions. Of
course, neither is desirable.
Fortunately, AYA has created a model to
show how to do it differently – how to teach
biology and chemistry while healing cultural
alienation. This time, we use Melanin. When
you learn the principles and techniques, you
can adapt it to other areas as well. In this
intro to Melanin Mastery - normally a year-
log course, we have used snippets from our
Black Body Bio-Khem classes to engage
adults and youth. It was powerfully received
at each stop on the Afrikan Centered
Sovereignty Education tour in 2019. COVID-
19 is prohibiting such a tour. Now, it’s time to
take it to another level.
It’s time for the Melanin Mastery Sets (MMS).
We borrow also from our Melanin Mastery
Cohorts (MMC) program. That program was
target at groups of youth. This instruction is
targeted to parents, teachers and families-
first. It’s intensive and moves fast. The goal is
for parents and families to then teach what
they have learned. However, with proper
support, small student or communty groups
are welcomed.
Sign up right away. These $49 sets are
popular @ at the price of less than $25 per
class, they’ll fill up fast.
A set of two classes repeated in August and
Septermber of 2020. Each set is designed to
spread our knowledge about melanin and to
teach you how to heal alienation and promote
science success in our community and among
our students - even the ones who say they
“hate” science.
Studying the science of melanin stimulates
interest in biology & chemistry and enhances
students’ research skills, science vocabulary,
learning, retention, and presentation skills.
One week out of each month Baba Wekesa (or
his designee) will teach the Tuesday-
Thursday set. After each set, the families and
attendees, review vides, research, learn, share
and discuss their chosen and assigned areas
of melanin research (online or face-2-face).
“Each One Teach One” is the guiding
philosophy for each family or community
group. At the end of each month, all enrolled
will be invited to make a presentation for
family and/or community.
It all begins with your signing up for the
MMS class using the link below.
